We wanted to make a special video about cancer. So we examined a range of typical films about charity foundations which help people with severe diseases. Then we made a list of patterns which almost every film tries to address people's feelings with. These are, for instance, sad music and tear-stained faces. Indisputably, severe diseases are always frightening regardless of the way people describe them. But, from our perspective, there is a thing that is even scarier. The habit which people acquire constantly hearing the same “suitable” music, the same “touching” words and common phrases that “should” be said. Living their own lives, people are forced to defend their attention from other people’s grief. They do it automatically to avoid the sense of powerlessness in the situation when they empathize with that grief but see no way how they can help. So we decided to tell those who relate that there is another way to defeat this sense. We showed why our foundation is unique. The main distinction is that we work with every patient individually. The foundation consists of lawyers, psychologists, volunteers, there are also a variety of businesses, clinics and former patients that contribute to our work. We also have our own hotline for anyone who faces cancer. Our assistants are able to support in almost any possible situation: onco-navigation, free psychological or legal consultations, grocery delivery, transportation to the clinic and other kinds of help. We have significant experience in working with people with cancer. In this video, we summarize it in the idea that impossible is possible. Society is able to support people living with cancer and defeating it. We can do it together.
